August is upon us and that means golden light and the unique blend of nostalgia and laid-back state of mind that comes with late summer. As locals return from their vacation in summer houses and abroad, Copenhagen events pick up again. Get ready to make the most of it with our events calendar! With major happenings like Copenhagen Fashion Week, CHART Art Fair, and several festivals, there’s plenty going on in the city this month. And even if that’s not your thing, wine-fuelled evenings, dips in the harbor, and picnics outside will surely keep you well-entertained.

Take notes, here are the best events in Copenhagen in August:

 

Thursday 1st – Saturday 3rd August

O Days Festival

O Days Festival bridges music with other creative expressions as well as great food and drinks. Celebrate summer in good company, dance to The Blaze and Denmark’s own Mø, and attend long tables dinners or beer tastings in the unique surroundings of Refshaleøen, stunning sunsets included. O Days is organized by Danish brewery Åben that also runs an industrial-chic bar with pop-up restaurant and DJS in the meatpacking district. Tickets are available for the full festival for 1,100 DKK or per day from 450 DKK plus you can attend as a volunteer. Learn more and check out the program on the website.

 
 
 

AiaSounds Festival

Dance under the open sky when the three-day festival Aia Sound takes over Tiøren in Copenhagen. The full festival ticket costs 1,629 DKK and day tickets are available for 829 DKK. Learn more and check out the line up on the website.

 

 
 

Friday 2nd August

Guided tour: Highlights and Architecture at Louisiana Museum of Modern Art

Receive a guided tour of Louisiana’s collection and an introduction to its iconic architecture. The tour is free for museum guests but you need a a ticket which can be obtained at the entrance up to 2 hours before the tour. From 2 to 2:45 pm.

 

 
 

Saturday 3rd August

Jewellery & Wine with Melt Studio

Let your creativity run freely and design your own ring in wax. Under guidance of trained jewellery designer, Anna-Katrine, you’ll learn how to sculpt your design while enjoying unlimited wine, beer or bubbles in relaxed atmosphere, no previous experience required. Tickets are available for 450 DKK (course only), after the session, you can get your ring cast in silver for an additional 950 DKK. This candlelit course takes place in Café Livingstone at the lakes.

 
 
 

Monday 5th – Friday 9th August

Copenhagen Fashion Week SS25

The spring/summer edition of Copenhagen Fashion Week has a particular charm: the audience takes the bike to shows, well-dressed people fill the sidewalks in the golden evening light, and parties take place under the open sky.

Whether you’re in the industry or not, there’re plenty of interesting events taking place allover the city, some open to the public.

Tuesday 6th – Sunday 11th August

Vildskud Festival

Experience independent theater in a variety of forms when Vildskud takes over Huset KBH in central Copenhagen. Find the program and learn more on the website. The festival ticket costs 295 DKK.

 
 
 

Wednesday 7th – Friday 9th August

Copenhagen International Fashion Fair CIFF

Coinciding with Copenhagen Fashion Week and having recently merged with trade show Revolver, Copenhagen International Fashion Fair CIFF is connecting a broad range of brands with national and international buyers. Saturday 10th – Sunday 18th August

Copenhagen Pride

As LGBTQ+ rights are under attack globally, Pride is an important reminder of both past achievements and battles yet to be won. For many, a clear highlight is the Pride Parade on Saturday, 17th August, but all through Pride Week, there’ll be talks and events to attend. Find the full program on their website.

 
 
 

Saturday 10th August

Dutch-Indonesian Rijsttafel at the Caribbean Housewife

A rijsttafel (rice table) is a traditional combination of dishes from various Indonesian food cultures. It consists of a number of perfectly harmonised dishes, with all main and side-dishes put on the table at the same time. Enjoy this epic table full of food from The Caribbean Housewife. Stella Polaris

Spend your Sunday dancing in the beautiful surroundings of the Frederiksberg Gardens. Stella Polaris takes place every August, bringing great musical acts ranging from residents Nicka and Kalle B to UK’s Joe Goddard, food, and good vibes to the city. Opera Festival

Himmelbio: Copenhagen in film at Cinemateket

Tuesday 20th August

A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Rosenborg Castle

This open air theatre show (in English) of the classic Shakespearean play, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, is sure to be a magical experience. There will be two shows, one at 2:00 pm and one at 6:00 pm. The performance is put on by American Drama Group Europe and will be touring across Denmark and other countries in Europe throughout the summer.

 
 
 

Sunday 25th August

Sunday lunch with Rave Yoga and Esther Mollie at Aeris Cocktails

Fight all potential Sunday Scaries with a Rave Yoga mindfulness session followed by a family-style long-table lunch by chef Ester Mollie. Expect lots of bright, nourishing seasonal and greek-inspired summer produce paired with refreshing kombucha in the beautiful Aeris space in Nordvest. From 12 noon to 2:30 pm, simply bring comfy clothes, all else is provided. Tickets cost 349 DKK.

 
 
 

Danish on a Sunday: Viktor Against the World at Cinemateket

With this event series, Cinemateket opens up the world of Danish cinema to non-Danish speakers by streaming movies in Danish with English subtitles. “Viktor Against the World” follows Viktor, a grown man who has lived alone with his fearful mother his whole life. When she suddenly dies, he finds out that his father is still alive and that he’s not a jazz musician as he had believed but really works in a big insurance company. When he meets Josefine, an incredibly unlucky middle manager at the insurance company, and the two outsiders fall in love. The film is screened at 2:15 pm.

Jan Gleie: Dioramalism I at Møntergade 3

Experience some of Danish artist Jan Gleie’s most personal photographic and cinematic works spanning over 3 decades at Møntergade 3. Having worked with a broad range of brands ranging from Vivienne Westwood to Canon, Jan Gleie has garnered international attention and won several awards. With this exhibition, he shows different sensory forms, celebrating the simple beauty and subtlety of what surrounds us.

 
 
 

Wednesday 28th August

Open House at &Tradition

Dive into the beautiful world of Danish design brand &Tradition at their open house. At the brand’s Copenhagen home and showroom, you’ll have the opportunity to explore its latest launches and classic collection. At 10 am, there’ll also be a talk with Arne Mølgaard and Henrik Hvidt, moderated by gallery owner and classics expert Peter Kjelgaard. Seats for the talk are limited so please rsvp via [email protected]. &Tradition opens its doors at Kronprinsessegade 4 from 9 am to 6 pm.

CHART Art Fair

On the last weekend of August, art collectors, professionals, and other enthusiasts come together to celebrate the Nordic art scene. CHART combines an art fair featuring the region’s leading galleries with an art book and print fair, as well as a broad program of talks, performances, architectural projects, and even an exhibition in Tivoli. Founded over a decade ago, this is a great opportunity to get up close with both, emerging talents and internationally renowned names of the Nordic art scene. The three-day ticket costs 300 DKK, day tickets cost 150 DKK, admission for children under 14 years old is free.

 
 
 

Enter Art Fair

Join when Enter Art Fair goes into its 6th year. Bringing together 96 galleries from 46 cities and 20 countries in the industrial surroundings of Lokomotivværkstedet and with an Art and Talks Program focused on how art is accessed, created, and shared in our digital age, this is a great weekend activity for anyone interested in art. The partout ticket costs 250 DKK and day passes 150 DKK, for children under 16 years old admission is free.
