Events in Stockholm are, unlike the weather, starting to heat up this February, from art to concerts to food to tours. Try a tasty semla bun from Under Kastanjen, learn about Scandinavian folklore in a tour just outside of Stockholm, or visit Fotografiska or a concert in person again!
Many activities offer an online version, so stay safe while you enjoy what the city has to offer.
Here are all the Stockholm events you’ll want to know about this month:
Monday 1st – Thursday 18th February
Björn Peck at Galleri Hantverket
Working in Täby, Björn Peck is a local woodworker, creating plates, bowls and other pieces of art. He sources the wood locally, using logs that would have otherwise been disposed of. The gallery is open daily.
Monday 1st – Thursday 4th February
The Wingbeat of Nature at Galleri Eklund
Jonas Falck’s collection of nature photographs will be on display at Galleri Eklund for a few more days this month. At the gallery, you will find images of herons, butterflies, waterlilies and more, taken on Falck’s trips around the world. To ensure safety, the gallery receives a maximum of 5 guests at a time.
Monday 1st – Wednesday 3rd February
Artists’ Film International, Part V at Bonniers Konsthall
On Bonniers Konsthall’s website, you will find six films, available to view until 3rd February. Each art institute of the Artists’ Film International chooses a film, created by an artist in the early stages of their career. The theme of 2020 was language. Viewing is free.
Monday 1st February
English Speaking Jobs Search Help
If you have been looking for an English-speaking job in Sweden, this event can help you. You will have a chance to speak with a recruiter about employer connections, application and interviews via one-on-one online meetings. To partake costs about 200 SEK.The event will be held again on the 8th, 15th, and 22nd of the month.
Stranger Inside at Galleri Mejan
This is the final day to view Tore Schultz Larsen’s exhibit! To see the art, you can reserve a spot by emailing the artist, or you can go to the gallery during its regular hours.
Wednesday 3rd February
Fasching Live Stream
Fasching will be hosting live stream concerts again for free, although they are accepting donations as well. Fasching hopes to have multiple concerts per week, so stay tuned to their website for more information. This event will be held again on the 6th.
Monday 4th – Sunday 14th February
Stockholm Design Week
One of our favorite events of the year has arrived, albeit with some different formatting! Stockholm Design Week highlights Scandinavian design. Many of the events will take place online this year in order to follow the pandemic guidelines. If you are interested in showcasing your design, find information about hosting an event on the website. If you want to be inspired by others’ designs, listen to a talk, or visit one of the show rooms.

Saturday 6th February
Renaissance at Gallery Saxess
Alex Colard’s latest exhibit, Renaissance, will be on display at Gallery Saxess for most of February. Colard was born in France, and moved to New York City in 2005 to study art and architecture. In 2017, Colard moved to Stockholm, and has been exhibiting around the city ever since.
Bohemian Life and Modernity at Thielska Galleriet
On Saturday 6th February, Thielska Galleriet will introduce their new exhibition of works, by Axel Törneman. Thielska Galleriet has one of the more extensive collections of Törneman’s work. Entrance is 130 SEK.
Photo Walk in Medborgarplatsen
This event encourages people to hone their photography skills, regardless of their current skill level. Join others, walking in groups of 8, for this free event and practice your photography.
Monday 8th – Friday 12th February
Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair City & Digital Edition
This year, the Furniture & Light Fair will take place digitally, with activities spread throughout the city in responsible manners. Stay tuned on their website for more specifics to come!
Young Swedish Form 2021 Inauguration Online
This year, 26 young designers will contribute to the exhibition, as they work to change and improve the future. Their work will be in furniture, graphic design, fashion, architecture, crafts, and industrial design. Due to COVID-19, the exhibit will be available on a digital platform, beginning on Monday and lasting until Sunday 14th March.
Tuesday 9th – Wednesday 10th February
WorkSpace Sweden 2021
We believe that this conference will be incredibly valuable to just about everyone out there. This pandemic has resulted in so many people working from home, or going to school digitally. In these two days, you will have an opportunity to network, learn and discuss the work places of the future, whether an office or your living room. This entire conference is digital. Tickets for one day are 1,495 SEK, or 2,495 SEK for both days.
Wednesday 10th – Thursday 11th February
Stockholm Design & Architecture Talks
As part of Stockholm Design Week, this two-day event will introduce you to speakers from around the world in the fields of design and architecture. At this virtual event, projects will be presented and analyzed, and trends will be forecasted. Tickets are 795 SEK.
Friday 12th – Sunday 14th February
In Honor of Earth at Juste Gallery
Tiffany Leiderby’s paintings will decorate the Juste Gallery this weekend, filling it with colorful works in honor of the old art masters.
Sunday 14th February
Love in the Viking Age at The Viking Museum
The Viking Museum is opening for an exclusive event, in which you will learn about dating in the time of Vikings. Space is limited, with each group limited to 8 people. The price for the event is 400 SEK, which includes entrance, the show, and a glass of mead or bubbles. After the show, you will have the chance to enjoy the museum as well.
Monday 15th February
The Jesus & Mary Chain at Circus
The Jesus and Mary Chain are a Scottish band that formed in 1983. Although members have come and gone over the years, the key players have always been brothers Jim and William Reid. Head to Circus to enjoy a live performance again. Tickets for the show are 350 SEK.
Wednesday 17th February
Two Another at Obaren
This duo is comprised of Eliot, from the US, and Angus, from the UK. The two bonded in Australia in a school program, now creating music together. Their concert at Obaren will be free of charge.
Thursday 18th February
Zorn at The National Museum
On Thursday, the National Museum will open a new exhibit in honor of Anders Zorn, the renowned Swedish artist who passed away 100 years ago. The exhibit will include about 150 pieces by Zorn, who worked as a painter, sculptor and etcher. The exhibit will remain open through August. Entrance to the exhibit is 100 SEK, or 150 SEK if you wish to purchase a ticket for both of the temporary exhibitions. Due to COVID-19, please check to ensure that The National Museum is indeed open prior to your visit.
Monday 22nd February
Frazey Ford at Nalen
Frazey Ford, a member of the Be Good Tanyas, is returning to Stockholm for another performance, this time accompanied by Leeroy Stagger. Tickets for the show are 250 SEK.
Wednesday 24th February
Curtain Talk Online Event from KTH
Professor David Broman will discuss Lambda calculus in this online discussion, with the goal of helping others understand the importance of these equations in the digital transformation of our society.
Friday 26th February
Medicine Buddha Practice at Yeshin Norbu Meditationscenter
Michael Yeshe will lead the group in a Medicine Buddha practice, bringing focus and strength to intentions. This practice is free.
Saturday 27th February
Voices of the Body with Macuxiva
Activate your creative being through mindfulness, yoga, dance, theatre and poetry in this workshop. There is space for 10 people to participate in the studio for 395 SEK each. Alternatively, you can book a Zoom spot for 295 SEK.
Ongoing in February
Anniki Andersson and Susanne Frunck at Galleri Hantverket
In this exhibition, you will find sculptures inspired by the forest in Jämtland. It runs from 20th February until 11th March.
Two Hundred Seasons at Fotografiska
Arno Rafael Minkkinen’s exhibition is a catalogue of self-portraits, beginning in 1970 all the way up to 2020. The locations vary widely, different landscapes, different countries, finding the play in the world. In order to enjoy the museum safely, Fotografiska has you book your ticket in advance for a specific day and time. Ticket prices vary based on the day, ranging from 155 to 255 SEK.
The Sin Park at Fotografiska
WANG Chen is the creator of the series The Sin Park, a collection of work that delves into topics of power structures, politics, gender and sexuality. She is a multimedia artist, creating the final video products with a combination of drawing, costume design, and installation. Be sure to book your ticket to Fotografiska in advance. Prices range from 155 to 255 SEK, dependent on the day you choose to visit.
Scandinavian Folklore and Vaesen Tour with Sweden History Tours
Explore the countryside of Stockholm in this guided tour, learning about the mythical creatures and the lore that surrounds them. You will learn about trolls, rå, and the Älvor, the folklore surrounding holidays, marriage and death. The tour is 3 hours long and costs 850 SEK.
Royal Walks: Djurgården
If you download the Royal Walking app, you will be guided, beginning at Djurgårdsbron and taking you eventually to Rosendal. Along the way, read, either in Swedish or English, about the sculptures and historical places by which you are walking. The app is free.
Ghost Tour in Gamla Stan
Take a spooky tour of the old town, hearing about murders, myths, assassinations and more from the area. Tickets are 220 SEK.
Ojorojo Keramik
Do you have experience with, or want to be introduced to ceramics? Spend a few hours at Ojorojo Keramik this month, either learning or practicing on your own. Prices vary. You can book a spot online.
