Six Things to Do at Copenhagen Cooking 2017

Copenhagen Cooking is a festival that’s easy to love: food, drink, and a little more food for good measure? Yes please! This year there’s an overabundance of events, including multi-course meals, kids’ events, events focusing on sustainability and exciting collaborations. We’re already lucky with our food choices in Copenhagen, and from 18 – 27 August, that luck is going up a notch.

Here are the tastiest events at Copenhagen Cooking this year:

List Marker: Number 1Open Sandwich Day

Ten of the best smørrebrød restaurants in Copenhagen offer you a tasty treat, as well as snaps to wash it all down. You get all ten pieces (plus the snaps!) for the ticket price.

Sunday 20th August
10:30 am – 6:00 pm

Kødbyens Mad & Marked

Flæsketorvet
1711 København V
Ticket Price: 185 DKK

List Marker: Number 2Frederiksberg Harvest Feast

A dinner table 150 meters long is set up on Frederiksberg Allé, with several restaurants taking part in creating a three-course meal made from organic and locally farmed ingredients. The farmers themselves are on-hand to present their produce. This is a truly community-oriented event that brings you closer to both the Frederikberg neighborhood and your food’s origins.

Friday 25 August

Frederiksberg Allé

2000 Frederiksberg
Ticket Price: 230 DKK

List Marker: Number 3Seed Exchange

Head to chef Christian Puglisi’s organic farm for a weekend festival, including a Bæst pop-up (and this great event!), food and drink for sale, events for children and demonstrations for potential-gardeners. A great way to learn more about food, farming and, of course, get some tasty treats.

Saturday 20th – Sunday 21st August
12:00 – 9:00 pm

Farm of Ideas

Brobjergvej 13
Kirke Såby
Ticket Price: Free

List Marker: Number 4Vegetalian

Enjoy a gourmet seven-course Italian menu made entirely with organic vegetables. Though the dishes will focus on the traditions of the Italian kitchen, they’ll approach flavors in an innovative and creative way. The event also celebrates the one year anniversary of Italian restaurant L’Altro. This will be a real treat for vegetarians and those who want to learn how to incorporate more organic veggies (and perhaps a little less meat) into their meals!

Friday 18th – Saturday 26th August
6:00 – 11:30 pm

L’Altro

Torvegade 62
1400 København K
Ticket Price: 395 DKK

List Marker: Number 5Tapas an Biodynamic Wines in the Culture Tower

With two seatings every night and only 14 seats per meal, this is sure to be a popular event. Rosforth & Rosforth (the wine sellers under the bridge) provide delicious biodynamic wines while you enjoy shared tapas plates in three courses. The cherry on top? A 360 degree view of Copenhagen from 13 meters up in the newly-opened restaurant in Culture Tower. A truly special experience!

Friday 18th – Sunday 27th August
5:00 – 10:30 pm

Knippelsbro 2

1400 København K
Ticket Price: 600 DKK

List Marker: Number 6Aamanns 1921 and Hideki Sato Collaboration

Yes, this is an expensive one, but if you can swing it, it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity. Michelin chef Hideaki Sato of Ta Vie in Hong Kong and Aamanns 1921 kitchen manager Maxim Surdu have collaborated on a ten course (Ten! Courses!) meal that combines smørrebrød with the Asian kitchen for an incredible fusion you won’t get anywhere else.

12:00 – 10:30 pm

Aamanns 1921

Niels Hemmingsens Gade 19-21
