Against All Odds – Historical Women and New Algorithms at SMK
With this exhibition, SMK puts a group of female Nordic artists back into the spotlight who in the period between 1870 and 1910, achieved success against all odds but were later forgotten. All 24 artists featured in the exhibition had left their Nordic home countries to pursue their artistic ambitions abroad where they met other women in the same situation, forming networks across national borders. These international networks became a support — a cosmopolitan alternative to their home countries, where they had limited opportunities to train and work as artists – leading to success and recognition. As a result of a conservative backlash against women, the artists were then more or less written out of history. The aim of “Against All Odds” is to rethink their place in history. It will be on display until 8th December.
Flora Yukhnovich: Into the Woods at Ordrupgaard
Experience the works of acclaimed British artist Flora Yukhnovich in her first museum show outside the United Kingdom at Ordrupgaard. Using a sensuous visual language that lies between figuration and abstraction, Yukhnovich incorporates historical styles into her work – particularly Rococo. At the same time, she transcends conventional genre boundaries by traversing high culture and popular culture. Step into her enchanted forest, reminiscent of the worlds of fantasy where you’ll encounter both the goddess Venus and the rap queen Nicki Minaj. The exhibition will be on display until 19th January.
I’m sorry, this space is reserved at Nikolaj Kunsthal
With this group exhibition, Nikolaj Kunsthal aims to opens up a space for debate, reflection, and perception focused on the normative vs. the non-normative in a society which is organised according to the majority. Experience it in person in the beautiful surroundings of Ordrupgaard. The installation will be on display until 19th January 2025.
Rasmus Myrup at Galleri Nicolai Wallner
From 1st November, renowned Galleri Nicolai Wallner presents Copenhagen-based Danish artist Rasmus Myrup. Jytte Høy: Words Found More Added at Møstings
