September in Copenhagen brings the final bits of summer and the first breezy signs of fall, all tinted with the golden light of this time of year. Make the most of it with sunny days spent by the harbor, dips in the refreshing water, evening bike rides, and after-work drinks under the open sky. As we collectively give in to summer nostalgia, Copenhagen’s event calendar is filled to the brim, keeping the spirits up.

Open Air Cinema

Wednesday 28th August – Tuesday 3rd September

Jan Gleie: Dioramalism I at Møntergade 3

Experience some of Danish artist Jan Gleie’s most personal photographic and cinematic works spanning over 3 decades at Møntergade 3. Having worked with a broad range of brands ranging from Vivienne Westwood to Canon, Jan Gleie has garnered international attention and won several awards. With this exhibition, he shows different sensory forms, celebrating the simple beauty and subtlety of what surrounds us.

 

 
 

Saturday 31st August – Sunday 1st September

FindersKeepers at ArtMaze

Join when FindersKeepers is turning the hall of a former car dealer in Østerbro into a design market. Over 100 designers, artists, and other creatives will bring their creations, ranging from clothing to ceramics to jewellery and more. From 11 am to 5 pm. Day tickets cost 50 DKK and weekend tickets 70 DKK, early bird deals are now available for half the price.

 
 
 

Monday 2nd September

Open Air Cinema: Druk (Another Round)

Enjoy one of Denmark’s most celebrated recent movie exports starring Mads Mikkelsen under the open sky on Cinemateket’s rooftop. The film from 2020 follows four teacher friends who set out to test the theory that humans are born with too little alcohol content in their blood and that “correcting” it leads to more creativity. Druk is screened at 5 pm with Danish subtitles. Make sure to bring a jacket, it’s Denmark after all. Tickets cost 110 DKK.

 

 
 

Thursday 5th – Saturday 21st September

Another Aspect Sample & Archive Sale

Another Aspect has made a name for itself with its well-crafted, timeless menswear pieces that make sure you look effortlessly chic while going about your everyday. This is your chance to score a future favorite: for three days, they’ll be offering pieces from previous collections, never-released products, and samples at discounted prices at Landemærket 8-10. Thursday and Friday from 8 am to 6 pm and Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm.

 

 
 

Friday 6th – Sunday 22nd September

Golden Days: Working life

Held annually since 1994, Golden Days is a collaborative project of now 100 cultural institutions. Together, they address contemporary topics with a varied program – this year with the theme “Working life.” From Marlon Brando in “On the Waterfront” to the exploration of labor songs to a concert by Irish folk-punk band Lankum with roots in the 2010’s financial crisis, there’s something for every taste. Friday 6th September

Garden Party with Vintro and Øens Have

Celebrate the end of summer with a magical Refshaleøen sunset, snacks from the garden and grill, cold wines by Vintro, and party time with live DJs. From 5 pm until late.

 
 
 

Saturday 7th September

Beitsalma x Kinan x Matteo

Join for a delicious Syrian-Lebanese BBQ pop-up in the gorgeous surroundings of Beitsalma. Expect whole grilled chicken, fresh grilled fish, and arayes accompanied by five Mezze platters, salads, and flat bread with toum, tahini, and pickles. Seating is limited so make sure to secure your spot early. From 7-9 pm.

Debut Fest at Huset KBH

Sunday 8th September

Det Grønne Loppemarked

Refresh your fall wardrobe with pre-loved clothing from Nørrebro’s locals, enjoy plant-based food, and buy seasonal produce. Det Grønne Loppemarked is on a mission to fight throw-away culture by highlighting a community-focused alternative as well as hosting workshops. Monday 9th September

VEGA Backstage

Experience the VEGA magic outside of opening hours. Since the beautiful, functionalist building opened its doors in 1956, every corner has been dedicated to community, art, and culture. Originally, the house framed the Danish labor movement, which for several decades organized everything from political meetings and congresses to wedding anniversaries and Christmas parties in the house on Enghavevej. Today, Lauritzen’s architectural masterpiece is Denmark’s leading concert venue with over 400 events annually. On the tour, you’ll dive into its fascinating history, gain insights into concert production and much more. The tour starts at 5:30 and tickets cost 150 DKK.

Tech BBQ

What started as a humble BBQ gathering for tech enthusiasts and entrepreneurs in 2013 has since evolved into a full-blown summit that draws attendees from around the world. Cafe Livingstone Jewellery & Wine with Melt Studio

Design a unique silver ring, while enjoying unlimited wine, beer and bubbles for 2 hours. Situated on Copenhagen’s lakes, Cafe Livingstone sets the frame for a candlelit, social, and cozy course whether you come by yourself or with friends. Burlesque Roulette

Just Another Drag Show at Absalon

Get ready for top tier Copenhagen drag – in English: the evening starts at 9 pm when Annie Rection, Sascha Holiday, Sisi Diva Cruz, Chloé Angel, and Kacey Doll will serve you a hell of a show, rounded off with yes, Drag Roulette. Anna Maehl & Ninna Lundberg at Musikcafeen

Experience two up-and-coming female artist live at Huset KBH’s Musikcafeen: 2023 was a big year for Anna Maehl. Her first single got selected for Belgian radio competition De Nieuwe Lichting as well as the soundtrack for Belgian Netflix series Knokke Off. Now she’s ready with her second single. Ninna Lundberg has had previous success with the band Ganger but in 2022, she released her first solo album. Join from 8-11 pm to enjoy this double concert. Tickets cost 140 DKK.

Jewellery and rooftop with Melt Studio at Skt. Annæ Hotel

Create your own unique rings with an easy wax technique under professional guidance. Bring some friends or come by yourself to get creative on the candlelit rooftop of Skt. Annæ Hotel. The rooftop is sheltered, with heaters, so you will be warm and cosy in this beautiful boutique location. Tickets for the course only cost 450 DKK, for the course and your ring design cast in silver 1,350 DKK. From 6-8 pm.

 

 
 

Thursday 26th – Saturday 28th September

International Music Festival: Sonamos Latinoamerica

From Mexican folk dance to afro-ecuadorian music to Colombian jazz, get up close with the diverse musical culture of Latin America. Friday 27th – Saturday 28th September

Bar Pasta Closing Party

After six years, Nørrebro favorite Bar Pasta is closing down both locations. Wave good bye at the team’s last service on Friday or join for the farewell party on Saturday from 2 to 11 pm. VENN Dining Supper Club

Meet the latest addition to Copenhagen’s dining scene: VENN is a supper club and catering concept focused on food as a shared experience that connects people. Inspired by Mediterranean food culture, VENN puts the ingredients center stage, focusing on seasonal, local, organic, and natural produce. Expect a family-style menu with a dedicated wine pairing by Vintro Vins or Kombucha pairing by Table Ferments, making new friends included. Behind VENN is Phoebe Elsa Jordan, Global PR and Communications Director at Rotate Birger Christensen and Remain Birger Christensen with a big heart for all things food and community. Phoebe has a nutrition qualification and takes a lot of care and pride in selecting the best produce.

Omar is back after a self-prescribed break and you’ve got the chance to see him at Lille Vega. In the meanwhile, he’s been on an introspective journey, resulting in a new sound that’s more poppy than previously. Experience it yourself, doors open at 8 pm and the concert starts at 9 pm.
